Amber Therapeutics was founded in 2021, with a mission to develop and deliver breakthrough neuromodulation therapies that can fundamentally transform outcomes in areas of unmet clinical need.
Project goals
They have since grown into a multidisciplinary team, combining deep medical device experience with a culture and mindset focused on transformational innovation.
Amber UI is the company’s first therapy, aiming to restore normal physiological function in women suffering with mixed urinary incontinence.
Our task:
Our brief was to bring Amber Therapeutics’ operation, previously spread across three sites, under one roof. The new premises caters for all activities including research & development and manufacturing.
We also helped Amber Therapeutics in the design and delivery of a brand new office space.
Skills & Results
Amber Therapeutics identified Harwell and Tech Foundry 2 as their preferred location for the new premises.
The landlord delivered Tech Foundry 2 as a warehouse type building with minimal building services, within which we built a two storey mezzanine structure.
Ground floor laboratory space includes an ISO 7 cleanroom, storage rooms, final packaging areas and a dry laboratory space.
On the first floor a research and development laboratory was created with adjacent open office, 4 meeting rooms, kitchen and break out areas.
Mechanical plant has been housed, on the second floor and in an external plant enclosure.
A glass lift operates between ground and 1st floors in the well of a feature staircase extending to the 2nd floor.
Disabled and ambulant lavoratories and a shower are sited on the landings.
Bulb designed and installed all mechanical, electrical, extraction and lab gas systems.
Redundancy and heat recovery have been built into the ventilation and air conditioning systems. All services including the flues of the ducted fume cupboards have been discretely incorporated within ceiling voids and risers throughout the building.
